Android Docuseries Explores What “Being Human Is”

Five stories about mobile technologies making real and positive change combine into an uplifting animated series for Android directed by Nico Carbonaro and Tuesday McGowan by Oakland Prodco Where the Buffalo Roam.

Combining Carbonaro's documentary filmmaking experience with McGowan's talent for design and animation, the series includes 2D, 3D, and hand-drawn cel work by Giant Ant, Oddfellows, Meister, and Where the Buffalo Roam.

Tuesday McGowan: “These films needed to be rich, engaging, and heartfelt, so authenticity was a huge part of developing the visual style of each film. We have been fearless in our approach, adopting abstraction, symbolism, metaphor, and non-linear storytelling to create fantastic animations that combine nonfiction and magical realism. "

Nico Carbonaro: “While we had to adapt to a whole new way of creating and collaborating during the pandemic, six months of our lives shared a lot of love and camaraderie around this project.

“Because of the remoteness of this project, we can bring together talent from all over the world. Additionally, the isolation created a sense of autonomy for all of the artists involved, which resulted in everyone doing their best. We have all fed each other's ideas and instincts as the creative just evolved organically and for the better. "
