Blind Spot has just released new products to power your DSLR / mirrorless camera, accessories, and Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K / 6K: the Blind Spot Power Pipe cables. With these USB-C PD cables, you can power your movie equipment via inexpensive power banks. Let's take a closer look at these power pipe cables for filmmakers on the go!

Blind Spot Power Pipe BMPCC

The Blind Spot Power Pipe BMPCC is an 18 inch USB-C PD to 2-pin power cable that connects your Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k / 6K to a power bank or even a USB-C PD Adapters can supply power to plugs. It makes a lot of sense to use a power bank with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k or 6K as these cameras notoriously drain the Canon LP-E6 batteries they are using.

If 18 inches is too short for your needs, you can use a USB-C to USB-C extension cable.

The Power Pipe BMPCC cable is priced at $ 45.00 and is available now from Amazon US or Amazon UK. This type of cable is not entirely new as similar options are already available in the market at a cheaper price.

Blind Spot Power Pipe 12V

The Blind Spot Power Pipe 12V is another 18 inch long USB-C PD plug cable with 5.5 mm outside diameter and 2.5 mm center pin DC cylinder.

These types of cables allow you to power accessories like monitors, wireless transmitters, wireless routers, live switches, etc. through a power bank. In fact, many camera accessories use 12V and have a barrel connector.

The Power Pipe 12V is compatible with existing DC adapters when you need to power a 12V accessory with a different type of housing connector.

The 12 V Power Pipe cable is available now for $ 40.00 from Amazon US or Amazon UK. As with the BMPCC cable, I've found other alternatives here that are already available on the market.

Power line 8.4V

Last but not least, you can use the 8.4V Blind Spot Power Pipe to supply your DSLR / mirrorless camera with power from a power bank (at least 9V / 3A). The idea is to plug this cable from a USB-C PD power bank into a dummy battery in your camera.

The Power Pipe 8.4 V is 8 inches long and compatible with all existing Blind Spot dummy batteries. Blind Spot currently offers dummy batteries for FUJIFILM, Sony, Panasonic, Nikon and Canon cameras.

The Power Pipe 8.4V is available now for $ 35.00 from Amazon US or Amazon UK. Blind spot dummy batteries are priced at $ 30.00 each. I haven't found a similar option on the market to power your camera from a USB-C power bank using a dummy battery.

What do you think of all of these new power pipe cables? How do you power your BMPCC 4K / 6K? Do you frequently use external batteries for DSLR / mirrorless cameras or accessories? Don't hesitate to let us know in the comments below!
