Bridget Everett will be featured in an upcoming HBO series about a fictional character inspired by Everett's career.

HBO heads for Kansas with Somebody Somewhere, a comedy series directed by Bridget Everett.

Here's the HBO summary: Despite all of its wide tiers and endless plains, Kansas can feel tight for someone like Sam Miller (Everett). Inspired by the life of comedian and singer Bridget Everett, Sam is a real Kansan on the surface, but underneath everything is struggling to fit the shape of the hometown. As she grapples with loss and acceptance, singing is Sam's saving grace and takes her on a journey to discover herself and a community of outsiders that don't fit, but don't give up. "Somebody somewhere" shows that it is possible to find your people and find your voice. Somewhere. Somewhere.

"Somebody Somewhere" is the first series to be celebrated by Everett, a cabaret artist who starred in films like "Patti Cake $", "Little Evil", "Fun Mom Dinner" and Netflix & # 39; s "Incredible Miniseries. Everett's popularity grew after Amy Schumer opened on the comedian's comedy tours, and she also appeared in Schumer's "Trainwreck" film.

"As a born and grown up Kansan, I'm excited to share some of the beauty and complexity of the place I grew up in," Everett said in a statement. "As long as I can remember, I've been dreaming of doing a show on HBO. I'm so grateful to Amy Gravitt, Casey Bloys and the entire HBO family for trusting in" Somebody Somewhere ". Special thanks to LL Cool J for the words "DDHD". Dreams have no time limits. "

The show is created by Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen, who act as executive producers alongside Carolyn Strauss, Patricia Breen, Mark Duplass, Jay Duplass, Mel Eslyn and Tyler Romary. Jay Duplass headed the pilot on site in Chicagoland last year. A release date and additional details are TBD.

HBO has a number of other television shows in progress, including the dramas “Lovecraft Country” and “Industry”.

"As long-time fans of their live shows, we were looking for the perfect way to show Bridgets a lot of talent," said Gravitt in a statement. "Your search for a rediscovery of home has really won our hearts."
