Conda Strap is a new camera strap from Frii Designs. Attached to the camera's tripod thread with a lever switch, it can become stiff and retain any shape. This way it can be used as a small tripod, vlogger handle, etc. The Conda Strap is available now on Kickstarter starting at $ 97.
Sweden-based photography equipment startup Frii Designs launched its first product on Kickstarter back in 2017. The TriLens Holder lens-carrying accessory was successfully financed. Now Frii Designs is launching a new product on Kickstarter, Conda Strap. One would have thought that there wasn't much to invent on a camera strap. However, the Conda belt looks very interesting. So let's take a quick look at its features and specifications.
Conda Strap – camera strap and tripod in one
The Conda strap is basically a camera strap with a small base plate and a lever that attaches to the camera's tripod thread. The neck area is moistened and consists of a padded cotton blend with a smooth and a rubberized side for additional support. The rest of the belt is made up of rounded sections with ball joints.

Now comes the interesting part. The lever on the small base of the belt can be switched from side to side, making the rounded section of the belt stiff. Before switching the lever, the belt can be shaped in any shape and remains that way. This way the strap can actually act as a tripod, vlogger handle, side grips for more stable movie shooting, etc.

The construction of the Conda strap reminded me a little of Joby's GorillaPod tripods, but it was taken to the new level. It's definitely thicker than a regular camera strap, but it could be a very interesting option for on the go as in some cases you don't need to carry a tripod or other accessories.
There will be two different versions of the strap available – Conda Strap and Conda Strap Plus.
- The standard Conda Strap is suitable for light DSLRs and mirrorless cameras with a weight of up to 1.1 kg. Its length can be between 105 cm and 150 cm and the width of the neck strap is 40 mm. The weight of the standard version is 340 g.
- The Conda Strap Plus supports heavier DSLRs and mirrorless cameras up to 2.2 kg. Its length can be between 109 cm (150.9) and 150 cm (59 inches) and the width of the neck strap is 45 mm (1.77 inches). The weight of the plus version is 530 g.
The strap fits with a knurled knurled screw on any camera with a standard tripod thread, making installation completely tool-free. According to Frii Designs, the strap has a unique length adjustment system to switch between neck and loop style.

The straps are available in three different colors – black, titanium gray or ruby red. They are made from a bespoke polymer, PET and cotton.
