Dabo: Sketch#2 - Real Time VFX

It takes some practice so I'm going to work through these old sketching challenges. For this challenge I chose the will-o'-the-wisp. This is the main point of reference for the wisp, mainly for elements and treatment:

Here is my first try:

Some more things I would like to do:

  • Work in some of these dripping elements
  • Set up a timeline to trigger his ground impact more evenly (currently eye toggling at runtime) : stick_out_tongue: )
  • Replace these lagging flames with ribbons
  • Cut the idle from 3 loops to 2

TO EDIT: I should mention that I'm (incorrectly) using a slightly modified version of @HAlis' master shader for the core mesh and the flames. I probably preach to the choir, but their site is a goldmine for shader glitches!

I haven't fully understood the rotation of the shader … so the UV scrolling is synchronized across particles. I'm going to add custom vertex streams to the task list.
