In a contract with The Three-Body Universe and the Yoozoo Group, Netflix secured the right to produce the English-language adaptation of the Hugo Award-winning science fiction saga about mankind's first contact with an alien civilization.
David Benioff, D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones) and Alexander Woo (The Terror: Infamy, True Blood) will write and produce. According to Cixin, "I have the greatest respect and trust in the creative team that adapted" The Three-Body Problem "for the television audience. I wanted to tell a story that transcended time and the boundaries of nations, cultures and races. One that forces us to look at the fate of mankind as a whole, it is a great honor as a writer to see this unique science fiction concept travel and win fandom around the world and I look forward to new ones and existing fans around the world to discover the story on Netflix. "
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss added, "Liu Cixin's trilogy is the most ambitious science fiction series we've read. It takes readers on a journey from the 1960s to the end of time, from life on our pale blue spot to the distant The edges of the universe. We look forward to spending the next few years of our lives bringing this to life for audiences around the world. "
"David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo have experience in tackling ambitious sagas across time and space, ”said Peter Friedlander, VP Original Series, Netflix. “Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman have dazzled fans for a long time with exciting and dazzling epics. You are all fierce supporters of the "three-body problem". As avid fans, it was particularly important to us to have the support of Liu Cixin, who created this expansive universe. We all have the same goal: to pay homage to this incredible story and to take members on the adventure of a lifetime. "
