The recently announced DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced drone features an improved thermal sensor with 16x thermal zoom, precise RTK positioning technology, a 48 megapixel camera with 32x digital zoom and 4K resolution. The drone also supports enhanced data security protocols and numerous useful accessories.

The Chinese company DJI doesn't just produce drones for filmmakers. The Enterprise line includes drones for various other purposes in security, construction, infrastructure, etc. These machines are often the same base as the movie drones, but with different peripherals and functions. Recently, DJI announced the Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced drone – a successor to the original Mavic 2 Enterprise. Let's take a quick look at the features and specifications.

DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced

The new Enterprise Advanced has two gimbal stabilized cameras in one module. Firstly a camera with a thermal resolution of 640 × 512 pixels and a refresh rate of 30 Hz, a temperature measurement accuracy of ± 2 ° C and a 16-fold thermal zoom. Second, a 48 megapixel video camera with a 1/2 ”CMOS sensor that can record 4K video and provide 32x digital zoom. Pilots can switch between visual, thermal, or shared feeds for different project needs.

The drone offers temperature measurements Spot meter (Display of the average temperature of an object) and Area measurement (Displays the average, lowest, and highest temperature and the corresponding location of each area).

The DJI RTK module (sold separately) can equip the drone with positioning with centimeter accuracy and supports NTRIP. Operators can create up to 240 waypoints to perform automated, detailed inspection missions in complex environments.

The Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced offers a maximum flight time of up to 31 minutes, a top speed of 72 km / h and up to 10 km (for FCC up to 6 km for regions that use CE) distance control with the OcuSync 2.0 -Data transmission system.

Data security and flight safety

When it comes to security, the drone offers functions Local data mode (when operated with the DJI Pilot app), which prevents the app from sending or receiving data over the Internet. In addition, the radio link between the aircraft and the remote control uses AES-256 encryption. Finally, the drone offers password protection for its 24 GB onboard data storage.

The drone also includes DJI's AirSense system, which receives ADS-B signals from airplanes and helicopters to warn drone pilots of other nearby air traffic, as well as obstacle detection in 6 directions (left and right sensors are only in Tripod mode active). Pilots can also fly using the discreet mode, which turns off the LED navigation lights. After all, the drone's batteries are self-heating when operated in cold weather down to -10 ° C.

Modular accessories

The drone is compatible with a handful of modular accessories such as:

  • Headlights – A small light with a brightness of 2,400 lumens for better visibility.
  • speaker – An audio speaker with a maximum projection of 100 decibels (1 meter distance) that can store multiple voice recordings and play clips in a loop. This can be useful for communicating with ground teams in emergency situations.
  • beacon – The beacon was designed using the FAA's Night Waiver standards and has a brightly flashing lightning bolt that is visible from a distance of 3 miles. This contributes to safety in low light or at night by giving operators of drones and traditional aircraft nearby an additional airspace awareness.
  • DJI Smart Controller – The controller with a bright 5.5-inch 1080p display offers visibility even in direct sunlight.
