The Vespid primes have an image circle that can cover the open door of ARRI Alexa LF.
DZOFILM has further developed its MFT 20-70 mm T2.9 "Linglung" -Zoom and the Super 35 "Pictor" -Zoom with its first set of cine prime numbers for large format filmmaking.
The Vespid primes, aptly named after a wasp, are said to be "nimble and agile" thanks to their light and uniform design. The set offers focal lengths of 25 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm, 75 mm, 100 mm and 125 mm for T2.1 as well as a 90 mm T2.8 macro lens (1: 1.5).
Each focal length covers sensors with an image circle of up to 46.5 mm, so that the lenses can be coupled with RED DSMC2, ARRI Alexa LF, Panasonic VariCam LT and Sony VENICE or with any full-screen DSLR and mirrorless camera.
As with all high-quality cinema lenses, the Vespid primes have standard 0.8 mod gears for focus and iris, which are evenly positioned across the entire lineup and allow quick changes to the set. The lenses also have the same front diameter of 80 mm and the same M77 filter thread, so you can use the same matte box or filters of the same size.
Together with the fast aperture, the lenses have a 16-blade aperture design that creates a pleasant round bokeh and can be stopped up to T16.
The lenses weigh between 732 g and 940 g and are compact. Better still, they have a high 270 ° focus throw, while the 90mm offers 300 ° throw. In terms of image quality, we expect a similar neutral color from the Pictor lenses, which will allow you to easily switch between prime numbers and zooms when shooting Super 35. However, more testing is required to find out exactly.
Each lens is available in either a PL or EF mount.
