Ground break/crater effect from Houdini to UE4

Hello, I'm trying to get a soil destruction effect from Houdini in UE4 (broken floors, rock blasting and leaving a crater), but I'm wondering how to do it. I currently see two options:
– Create a predefined animation in Houdini and export it to UE4. This is (should) be simple, but inflexible and repeats itself
– Export only the crater depth map for parallax / vertex offset and treat the flying rocks as normal mesh particles in Niagara. However, this means that the rocks are shaped like the chunks off the floor and don't look like they are just randomly generated generic rock meshes off the table
So my question is: is there a way to import an asset from Houdini and feed the various chunks into Niagara to use them as mesh particles (where starting position, speed, etc. come from this asset)? If not, what is the best way to do it?
