Today, Hue & Cry announced that it has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Matt Darnall as Creative Director. With his creative leadership and ingenuity, he will oversee the creative direction, innovation and strategy for the animation and design house in his new role.

After nearly seven years at The Mill, Darnall is moving to the award-winning Richmond studio in Chicago, where he will drive and drive creative development and lead the talented and growing group of designers and animators at Hue & Cry.

Darnall has over 10 years of animation and design experience and has advanced in the industry. He has held positions from illustrator, animator and designer to creative director and animation director. Darnall's projects, overseeing and overseeing teams both large and small, ranged from broadcast television to film and entertainment to traditional animation, movie title sequences, CG character pieces, VFX-controlled creatives and motion graphics.

Darnall freelanced for several years at studios such as Digital Kitchen, Filmograph, Vitamin, Daily Planet, Sarofsky, and Radar before starting a full-time position in the expanding Mill office in Chicago in 2014. He was the first to work for The Design Department quickly became a major player where he began directing jobs and art when the studio exploded from 15 to 65 employees and became animation director for The Mill Group.

Darnall is known for his animation skills, engaging character work, quirky storytelling, and attractive graphics. He has designed and developed identity for a number of leading clients and companies including Sony Playstation, Jack Daniels, Coors Light, Mikes Hard Lemonade, McDonald & # 39; s, Extra Gum, Nike, State Farm, VISA, Tag Heuer, Chicago Bulls, HBO and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences. Notable TV and film traits he has worked on include HBO's "True Blood," Warner Bros. More recently, Darnall has also been one of the leading creative voices for the Wholly Guacamole and Dairy Queen accounts at BBDO San Francisco and Barkley, where he directed fully CG character-driven spots. His Wholly Guacamole and Visa spots were recently shortlisted at the AICP Awards.
