The VIEW conference has confirmed the participation of Dennis Muren from Industrial Light & Magic in the upcoming 2020 event from October 18-23. During a one-hour virtual session, the legendary visual effects master will talk about his long career and unique artistic vision and answer questions from conference attendees.
Muren has been a trend-setting light in the film industry for decades and an inspiration for artists of all disciplines. Muren won nine Oscar prizes for best visual effects and an Oscar for technical achievement, and began his career with Industrial Light & Magic in 1976 as a cameraman for miniature effects on the original Star Wars: A New Hope. Throughout his long career, Muren has always been on the cutting edge of technology, advocating the use of digital imagery in landmark films such as The Abyss, Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Jurassic Park. As Senior Visual Effects Supervisor and Creative Director of Industrial Light & Magic, Muren remains at the forefront of the company's ongoing development.

In another program note, Dr. Gutierrez also confirms that Paul Debevec will deliver a keynote address on virtual production. The well-known scientist is Senior Staff Engineer at Google on the Daydream team and Adjunct Research Professor of Computer Science at the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California. He works in the Vision and Graphics Laboratory at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies. Among a multitude of awards, Debevec won two prizes from the Scientific and Engineering Academy in 2010 and 2019.
