Corona virus affects the NAB Show 2020. Here is the current status of the Las Vegas event.
No film school has closely followed the corona virus and its effects on the population, the film industry and industry events. SXSW was canceled last week for the first time in 34 years. Many other events, including The Photography & The Video Show, have been postponed or converted to online-only seminars on participants' health and safety concerns.
The NAB Show is an event that no film school regularly attends. It takes place in Las Vegas at the local convention center and this year's show is from April 18-22. Nevada has confirmed COVID-19 cases, even though state health officials have not set restrictions on public gatherings or travel to Nevada. As of March 10, 2020, the organizers of the NAB will state that the show "is going as planned". The organizers of the fair also introduced a "No Handshake" guideline during the industry fair, which is expected to attract 90,000 visitors.
No film school has contacted the organizers to find out what the show could possibly cancel and what the attendees can expect if the event continues. While we asked specific cancellation questions, including whether the CDC, WHO or state government had intervened and imposed restrictions, the NAB would then cancel the event. NAB replied with a blanket answer:
"The health and safety of our show community remains our top priority. The NAB will continue to follow the guidelines of the global, federal and local health authorities as we drive planning for the show. Should the guidelines of these experts change, we will become ours Reassess plans. "
NAB also announced that it will improve its health and safety protocols during the show, including increasing daily cleaning in public areas, adding hand sanitizers to the exhibition space, and strengthening its food safety awareness programs. In view of the precautionary measures, the exhibitors decide to exclude themselves from this year's fair. According to the NAB, around 96% of exhibitors are still planning to participate and only 4% no longer participate.
