Add fascinating animated texture to your videos and designs with this collection of 18 FREE animated textures. Download here.
I've always been a fan of adding organically generated textures to any form of digitally generated design. And because of this, of all the giveaways we've ever released for a free week, I will probably use the most in my own work.
If you want to add a little more visual appeal to your motion graphics and title design, this versatile package of textures is your hassle-free, time-saving drag-and-drop solution.
To make this pack, I went around my house and found a piece of paper or fabric that had an interesting texture and scanned it in different directions.
These textures were scanned at high resolution and then animated in twos (a new frame for every two frames on the timeline) in After Effects before they were exported. This means that these textures are baked in with a little bit of this frame-by-frame animated style for ease of drag and drop use. They are also provided in 4K resolution video files so you can enlarge and shrink them as needed.
As a bonus, I also added all of the still image versions of the files that were used to create the animated textures.
This FREE pack of Animated Grainy Textures includes:
- 18 animated texture video files (h.264), each about 5 seconds long
- 18+ still images of all textures (.jpg)

Why I love these textures so much
I like to have a collection of things like this that you can use extremely quickly, like when it's late at night and you just want to get your project done. I'm looking for things that I can just drag into my project to add a little production value without adding too much of a flashy stamp.
These things have to be simple and feel like YOU did them. Stuff that is too specific never works. Something like an animated texture still leaves the user with enough creativity while still adding a bit more flavor.
This pack has many different levels of "noticeable" texture – from simple everyday papers and fabrics to wrinkled notebook paper and brown bags. That's why i like it. I would say that around 50% of end-tag animations can benefit from a little extra texture, whether subtle or quite noticeable.
The same goes for the still image design. That's why we also included the still image versions with higher resolution.
Using the animated textures
These animated textures are 4K video files. However, you will find that they are extremely short (file sizes need to be considered) and that they are also completely devoid of color. This will take a little elbow fat on your end.
How to add color
The easiest way to add color to your textures (either way) After Effects and Premiere Pro) Is that to use hue cause. Here you can simply swap the white color to the color you want to get the result you want.
If you use a different software, there is certainly an equivalent effect. Anywhere you can easily change the highlighting or white color of the clip, you're in business.
How to lengthen the clip
This also varies slightly from program to program, but these clips are repeated indefinitely so you can keep making them as long as you need them. In most cases, the easiest way to create a longer length clip is to duplicate, or copy and paste. in the premiere and Final Cut, you can click, stop old, and pull – This will make a copy.
in the After Effects, you can Right click Then click the clip you want Modify> Interpret Footage and change the grind Text field to a higher number.
These free animated textures should work just fine in any nonlinear editing (NLE) software. I recommend using them with alpha matting and text, shapes, or other effects. You have a lot of options with these textures.
If you want to add some texture to your entire project or animation, you can at least drag it to the top and set it to "On" Multiply Transmission mode. You might get some interesting results with that too Overlay and Hard light Transmission modes.
I hope you like these textures as much as I do. Have fun!
