Epic Games has made over 50 3D models of jungle plants, created by Indonesian environmental artist Baiquni Abdillah, also known as PolyAsset3D, available for free on the Unreal Engine Marketplace.
The assets, all Southeast Asian species, are available as part of PolyAsset3D's Tropical Jungle Pack.
The content is part of Epic's free August 2020 Marketplace content, which also includes a separate pack of rigged models of seven African animals.
50 models of real Southeast Asian jungle plants using PBR materials
The Tropical Jungle Pack includes 50 plant models as well as stones and a river bed with vertices between 91 and 5,663 vertices and some with poster LODs.
The plants include trees, ferns, grasses, and other flowering plants, and are based on true Southeast Asian species, including banyan figs, palm trees, and rafflesia.
The assets have PBR material with texture results of up to 4096 x 4096 pixels and support “realistic wind movements” and a shader-based player interaction system when used in Unreal Engine.
System requirements and availability
The Tropical Jungle Pack will be available free of charge from the Unreal Engine Marketplace from August 2020. It is compatible with Unreal Engine 4.19+.
The marketplace usage rights allow assets not created by Epic Games to be exported to other game engines and DCC software, although some features obviously require UE4.
