Online asset store KitBash3D has released Neo City: a free range of cyberpunk-themed 3D buildings, from street kiosks to skyscrapers.
The "mini-kit" is designed to demonstrate the new features of KitBash3D's latest Kit 4.0 update, which has updated the store's resources for real-time usage and supports the native formats of Unity and Unreal Engine.
The buildings are also provided in FBX and OBJ formats, as well as the native file formats 3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, Houdini and Maya, and are compatible with OctaneRender, Redshift and V-Ray.
High quality kit bashing assets for concept design, matt painting and VFX – and now gaming art
KitBash3d offers themed model parts that allow matte painters, illustrators, VFX and game artists to create detailed 3D scenes faster.
When launched in 2017, it was the first online store to focus on kit bashing and concept work rather than providing full 3D architectural scenes, and it was quickly adopted in the industry.
Current customers include HBO, Marvel, EA, Ubisoft and 2K Games. The site's commercial kits range from futuristic, contemporary, and ancient buildings to vehicles, machines, and urban objects.
New in Kits 4.0 update: support for Unity and UE4 and PBR textures
KitBash3D's original asset packs were intended for offline use. Since last week's Kit 4.0 update, they now contain files in the native formats of the game engines Unreal Engine and Unity.
Starting with the 4.0 update, the kits also include PBR materials that support both Metalness / Rougness and Specular / Glossy workflows, as well as standard relative texture paths.
The models are now also equipped with a second UV channel, which is intended for baking the lighting in game engines.
Additionally, assets are now more modular, have standardized pivot points, and have been cleaned up to remove overlapping UV rays, coplanar surfaces, and n-gons.
Pricing and system requirements
The Neo City Mini-Kit contains a selection of assets from version 4.0 of some of the most popular KitBash3D collections: Neo Tokyo, Neo Tokyo 2, Cyber Streets and Neo Shanghai.
It comprises nine individual cyberpunk-style buildings or groups of buildings – it encompasses an entire city block – with a total geometry of 12.9 million polygons.
The assets are provided in FBX and OBJ formats as well as in the native file formats 3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D and Maya and are compatible with OctaneRender, Redshift and V-Ray.
The summary specifications in the list in the KitBash3D online store have not been updated and now include Houdini, Unreal Engine and Unity. However, all are available as download options.
The Neo City Mini Kit is free for individual artists "for a limited time only". For small studios – those who need access for up to seven artists – it costs $ 399. Enterprise pricing is available upon request.
The assets are licensed for commercial use.
