e-on has released a service pack update for VUE and PlantFactory that provides compatibility for some host applications on the Mac, as well as some fixes.

VUE, PlantFactory R5.1 (Build 5003965)

In addition to a few minor fixes for Windows and Mac, this update is particularly interesting for users of Professional & Enterprise Mac, as it increases compatibility for the following host applications on Mac:

Plugin (integration)

  • (NEW) (MacOS) Integration plug-in for Cinema4D R21 and S22 added.
  • (NEW) (MacOS) Integration plugin for Maya 2020 added.
  • (Cinema 4D) A possible crash when reloading old scenes has been fixed.
  • (3DS Max) The display of real terrain in the 3DS Max view window (mirrored texture map) has been corrected.
  • (MacOS 10.15) Correction of the display of E-On windows and OpenGL areas in C4D R21 + and Maya 2019+ in MacOS 10.15 (also MacOS 10.14 for Maya 2020)

Integration and export

  • (Alembic) A possible crash when exporting an EcoSystem to Alembic when exporting texture maps next to the .abc file has been fixed (new option from R5).
  • A possible crash when attempting to export a spline without geometry has been fixed by using the option to * convert * existing maps.
  • OpenEXR has been updated to version 2.2.2
  • Keep the original image gamma after the automatic reload.
  • Include missing picture type information when auto-loading side channels.
  • (Images) Crashes when reading 4-bit grayscale PNGs per pixel have been fixed.
  • (Images) Reading PNGs with a palette and a transparency block has been corrected.
  • (Images) When loading content or scenes that refer to missing images, the folders selected by the user for the first missing images should be used as clues for the next to speed up the process. In X1R3, however, they asked again and again, and since X1R4 it would even silently fail to load missing images without warning the user!

Performance and stability

  • (NEW) The memory usage when rendering for EcoSystems with SolidGrowth species has been massively reduced.
  • (Infinite Terrain) Avoid continual updates to the position of infinite terrain.
  • (Terrain / displacement) Possible crashes when using the displacement on a height field, where the width is inferior to the height, fixed!
  • A possible memory leak in the Atmosphere Preview thread has been fixed.

Various

  • (3D DISPLAY) (ShaderEngine) Lack of transparency in 3D viewports when using the shader4 OpenGL engine has been fixed.
  • (ATMOSHPERE) Ignore the setting "Ignore atmosphere on map" if the environment map is deactivated.
  • (DISPLACEMENT) (Metablobs) Avoid losing all animation associations when animating a MetaBlob.
  • (INSTALLATION) Fixed installing and updating on some file systems where attempting to change file ownership would result in an error, such as B. Apple's network storage protocol used on a NAS.
  • (MISC) Fixed possibly invisible or damaged pre-optimized nets (example: Elven models with new C3D stack) – Regression introduced in R5.
  • (MISC) Possible errors when reading scenes with Turbo Smooth Subdivision have been fixed.
  • (MISC) (Curl) Upgrade to version 7.70 (from 7.68).

  • (PATHTRACER) (Splines / GeometryEffect) Corrects the texture mapping of the geometry effect networks of splines when rendering in PathTracer.
  • (RENDERING) Inconsistent results (in terms of rendering times and quality) when loading predefined preset files (Preview.urs, Final.urs etc.) have been fixed.
  • (TERRAIN) Fixed a bug when loading 3 presets from the "Infinite Terrains" collection.
  • (UI / UX) (macOS 10.15 / All) display of tooltips corrected.
