The Los Angeles Shorts Hub has used its own streaming platform to bring its 16th annual edition to digital space.
The HollyShorts Film Festival will launch its 16th annual edition online and has postponed its run to November 9-15, 2020.
The Hollywood-based short film festival announced that it will show a selection on its streaming platform Bitpix. “Our filmmakers are the most important part of this festival. If we can stream our sweet 16 year anniversary on Bitpix, we can stay healthy and actively participate in the HollyShorts community, which unites over 80 countries, ”said the organizers of HollyShorts, Daniel Sol, Theo Dumont and Nicole Castro, in one common explanation.
HollyShorts started in 2005 with few resources and has since established itself as an Oscar-qualifying hotspot for short filmmakers vying to check prices. Five of the filmmakers present last year received Oscar nominations for their work, and two took the gold home: Marshall Currys The Neighbor & # 39; s Window and Carol Dysingers learning to skateboard in a war zone (if you're a girl) , won Oscars for Best Short Film (Live Action) and Best Documentary Short Subject.
Recognition: HollyShorts Film Festival
HollyShorts usually enjoys the TCL Chinese Theater as a hangout, but Bitpix has streamed at least part of the festival's program in recent years. After the COVID-19 pandemic forced film festivals to circumvent new restrictions, HollyShorts is ready to expand the level of bitpix support for this year's 7-day showcase. Bitpix will make all films, panels and special events from HollyShorts accessible on over 1,000 devices such as Apple TV, Chromecast and Roku as well as iOS, Android, Mac and PC.
HollyShorts is working with Panavision to offer some of its award-winning camera packages. Last year, the First Look Development Lab was launched by Industry Content Creators, which, with the support of Stampede Ventures, helped the award winners to expand their short films to feature films and TV series. The upcoming edition of the festival received over 6,000 submissions from 110 countries, and those selected from this pool to compete for prizes in more than 20 categories. HollyShorts' partner, ShortsTV, continues to be actively present at the festival, looking for shorts that come to the market in search of a distribution agreement.
The official selection of HollyShorts will be announced on September 15th. The annual award ceremony will be broadcast free of charge on Bitpix on November 15th. Short films that qualify for the 2021 Academy Awards will be announced at this ceremony. In the meantime, all-access early bird passes are available Here from now until September 14th.
