While it's always exciting to see films that reflect real life and deal with difficult topics, arguably the big screen is best when it offers a sheer dose of escapism.
Movies give us a chance to dream a little and if you are a huge movie lover the idea of living your own dream could mean grabbing the chance to make movies yourself.
Live the dream
How much money would it actually take you to achieve this? Well, Lottoland got on the subject and provided some metrics on blockbuster budgets and the lottery winnings that you would need to get them.
The website found that Bollywood's most expensive film, 2.0, was $ 80 million. So if you want to produce something similar, you have to win the jackpot for the Millionaire game. Alternatively, the budget of the most expensive anime steamboy – $ 20 million – equates to a profit at Mega-Sena.
Having the wealth to make our own movie may remain a pipe dream for many of us, but at least we have the consolation of being able to watch characters on the big screen live out their hopes and desires. With that in mind, here is a selection of three inspiring moments from modern day movies where people have to do just that. Be warned, there may be spoilers ahead of you.
A Star Is Born (2018)
A Star is Born, a classic Hollywood story, has been incredibly reinvigorated by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. One of the defining moments in the film, of course, is when Gaga's allies get their first chance to sing with Coopers Jackson in front of a large crowd. The goosebumps-inducing performance shows Shallow, who won an Oscar for best original song.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
One of the most devastating elements that Captain America froze at the end of his first film is that he missed a life with Peggy Carter. The epic Avengers: Endgame was jam-packed with satisfying moments, but few can match the final minutes when Steve Rogers can step back in time and live with his lost love.
It's noteworthy that Christopher Nolan managed to make a massive film like Inception in the middle of his work on the Dark Knight trilogy. Leonardo DiCaprio was a fascinating film about dreams in which he hoped to fight a robbery and return home to his children. He appears to be achieving his goal, but an indication of whether he's still in a dream remains enticingly unsolved. Websites, including Collider, have pages devoted to theories related to what the ending means.
The incredible movie moments shown above are just a few examples of great scenes in modern day movies where dreams for characters undoubtedly came true.
Each of us has our own favorite movie moment, and we hope that the way we look at those hits on the big screen inspires you to remember certain scenes that you love.
