Riot Games' free multiplayer first-person shooter Valorant, which launched in June with this trailer, just dropped that cute piece of mad movement from We Are Royale (WAR) to introduce a new weapon skin line called Glitchpop.
From WAR: “Valorant is Riot Games' first new IP in ten amazing years of League of Legends, that big step into a new genre for them. Users play for free but can choose to purchase cosmetic packs that include some nifty wheel weapon skins and finishers.
“To reveal their newest skin lineup, Glitchpop, Riot needed an equally cool video ad. The Concept: Create an advertisement for the gun line present in Valorant as if it came from a future world obsessed with over-branding. The feeling: glitchy, spastic, marketing-as-content overload that highlights the colorful but deadly finishers.
“We started with a bombastic, overloaded waifu aesthetic – a bit like walking through Tokyo's Shibuya Junction at night while microdosing psilocybin (not that we would know).
“The spot revolves around the kawaii cyberpunk mascot, with additional stickers that come to life to view the guns and demonstrate the gameplay.
“In order to live up to the chaos promised in our script, we put in separate teams that compete against each other on different scenes and increase Riot's fortune. From CG artists and cel animators to 2D graphics and designers, getting the project together has been a tremendous sprint. "
