It is an honor to be featured on the ARRI website this week after being interviewed about my shooting experience on the Alexa Classic.
As I have already outlined in This article, I decided to break the convention for our PSYCHOSYNTHESIS micro-budget feature by shooting 4: 3 on an Alexa Classic Plus that I bought through ARRI's CPO program.
I'm really excited about what ARRI does with its CPO cameras (used cameras) because they open the door to filmmakers on a budget to get the best results on set and in the mail. It wasn't long ago that micro budget indies should only be shot on DSLRs, regardless of whether this was the optimal format for them or not.
But now Alexas has been around long enough that the prices of used bodies and kits have dropped so much that they are a viable option for filmmakers on a budget. Not to mention that ARRI's CPO program creates confidence that you are working with a camera package that is certified to work on-site and take professional shots.
I will shortly be sharing more of my experience with the camera (including how I am now using it with customized Leica R lenses), but you can read more on the ARRI website right now.
