Vertex animation LODs - Real Time VFX

Hey look, it's been a while since I posted here!

Has anyone ever thought about creating LODs for (soft) vertex animation? Especially when I simulate something in Houdini and make it unreal.

If I decimate the mesh before adjusting, the animation will be different and will not sync. If I decimate the mesh after the simulation, the vertex numbers change so I can't use the same position texture.

Has anyone done this successfully?
